Everyone knows what sexual immorality is, right? Well, just to be sure, it is essential sexual activities outside of marriage. However, sexual immorality is not limited to that. It can be any “immoral” acts of the sexual nature, such as pre-marital sex, rape, and all that good stuff that we are surrounded by in our world today. What am I getting at here? As teenagers, we are looked upon as kids who are driven completely by hormones. Basically, we are are stereotyped to be sexually immoral. And somehow, that has become acceptable to the world today. But, it is up to us to make a difference in that, to show it isn’t okay for teens to be sexually immoral.
I’m definitely not cutting down on affection in dating. I’m talking serious here. I know how tempting it is, trust me. But I know that in marriage, we are rewarded for not giving in. We are called to not give into this temptation, because the body is for God, not ourselves. That is our purpose, to live for God. If we give in, how are we living for God? This passage continues in verse 18 to say “Flee sexual immorality.” We are supposed to get away from it! But if we surround ourselves with things that will tempt us, how are we supposed to get away?
My point is to not let our teenage hormones take control of us. God is in control, not us. And we need not lose focus. God is way better than any pleasure we get in temptation. Though it may not feel like it, God’s love abounds for us more than anyone else can. We belong to Him. As hard as it is to ignore these feelings, we can do it, because Jesus was tempted, and He was able to overcome. God helps us, provides for us, and protects us. All we have to do is trust in Him, and not in ourselves, including this. I hope this helped you all in your walk with God.
